Staying Hydrated This Summer !!


As summer is approaching, let see how you can serve yourself with different types of water to quench your thirst. So please help yourself!!!

1. Frequent burning urination is most common complaint in hot summers. Here is what you can do for it.

Take a glass of water at room temperature

Add 1 tsp of coriander seeds, ½ tsp of cumin seeds

Bring it to boil and then let it cool down on its own

Have this water in 4 parts throughout the day

2. Flavoured water:

When you don’t have time to prepare sherbats this would be best possible way out

Slice out any juicy summer local fruit.

Add 4 to 6 slices of fruit to your water container

It’s just a matter of half an hour and you will get your water with tinge of your favourite fruit.

3. Hot water will not be your choice for the summer days, but you can always boil, and cool down water and use it for your day.

This type of water will help in maintaining balance of doshas in your body. However, remember never use water kept overnight.


4. Kokam (Garcinia indica) sherbets, lemon water, khus (vetiver) sherbets are always good option when you have guests at home

5. Feeling dizzy, dehydrated is also quite common in these summers. Here is what you can do to have with your

Add 2 tsp of sugar and 1/4th tsp of salt to a glass of water and stir well

6. Buttermilk:

This is another refreshing option. It helps in better digestion. Buttermilk is termed to be “Amrut” by Ayurved. It is to be consumed at the end of meal. However, if it’s not possible to have daily, one can enjoy it in summer.

1 Cup of fresh Yoghurt, blend it to form smooth paste.

Add 4 cups water, now blend together

Add sugar/salt/fresh mint leaves/ cumin seeds/ fresh coriander leaves as per taste
